Nice video! A couple of quick comments:
1. Vintage? No, it is not 50+ years old. How old is it?
2. You're surprised it takes 2xAA batteries? Most do
3. I am sure you can find a replacement for the battery pack. I had the same with the same problem. People need to never leave Alkaline batteries in any device, They leak like crazy, I use rechargeable batteries.

Alkalines give me anxiety when they will leak.
