Perfect timing and a very transparent sky in the March 14 early morning sky during the lunar eclipse gave me a great view of Omega Centauri.

Here's snapshots through my 100mm f/4 refractor with my phone held against the eyepiece.  I think this is the most detail I've ever seen at these low powers.

The first picture at 15X is a pretty good representation of what I saw visually.  The 2nd picture at 36X shows more detail than I saw with my eyes, but not by a major amount - the contrast, especially in the core, is better in the picture than what I could visually see.  It was still a superb view in the eyepiece.

Hi Gary, nice that you got a good view of the mighty Omega Centauri!

You need to come to Australia and observe it at the meridian (it culminates at 74° from my location) Wow, even from my backyard at that hight it is an incredible sight through my 10 inch.  From a dark site there are no words that are adequate to describe the view!

Hi, Joe.

I'd love to do some observing down your way!  I've visited a few times, but unfortunately, always for work and never with a telescope.  I did spend some daytime hours in a few botanical gardens, which were wonderful, and along the cost around Geelong where I saw some cool wildlife and sea life that I never see in southwest Florida.
