I'm not sure my other post made it, if it did please delete it and keep this one.

I have been using RAW .NEF files from a Nikon Z50 for all of the software with no problems. Now I have a Z8 and I get corrupted looking photos when loaded into the software. (see my album since I can't figure out how to attach a jpeg.) The Z8 has options for compression that the Z50 didn't have. Others suggested downloading the latest Nikon codec, not on their website now...: It didn't help. I have had to convert everything to tiffs which adds a lot more time to processing. I don't know if the software can't handle the newer compression or if changing the method will help. Has anyone experienced this problem? Solutions?

Thanks,

Steve

Are you using the lossless option with your .NEF file?  I think Siril has always been able to handle standard .NEF, which I assume that would be.

Yes, it's quite normal that newer compression methods are not supported because it takes a lot of work to add support.  If Adobe DNG Converter supports the format then you can try converting the files to raw DNG format and use them instead of the NEFs.

The camera might not be listed because the compressed NEF files are not supported.  Or maybe Nikon changed their lossless NEF file too - which I would find strange, but you never know.  (This just seems to list cameras where there is "full support on all software".)

RawDigger has only recently added support for Nikon HE/HE* compression (Feb 2025):

LibRaw typically lags behind RawDigger - its latest release was Sep 2024:

My guess is that LibRaw support will arrive in due course
