On the eavening of October 21 2024, around 7:50 pm Pacific time I was observing the comet from my backyard looking through my Fujinon 16×70 binos at Comet C/2023 A3 i noticed a sudden outburst of material coming off the nucleus, already set up with all  6"  Explore Scientific triplet carbon fiber apo mounted on a Losmandy G-11 digital drive , rapidly, I installed the poro prism diagonal fitted with a 16 nagler running around 76× i could clearly see stellar points. Almost like chunks of ice were breaking off and evaporating in a streamer, as well as the ion tail was visible in an eerie green light.

Then I swapped out the 16 for the10 Ethos offering me a magnified view, add a 121× power, which clearly resolved the core to a stellar point as well as the ejected materials were also visible as points of light with outgassing. I would go back-and-forth for the next several minutes settling for the sixteen, giving a better view overall untill it got too low on the horizon. The Initial sketch was done on my cell phone, upload to Procreate or I further rendered the sketch

Adding the background color to mimic the light that was still visible Shortly after astronomical twilight, painted with the airbrush and luminance brushes. Finished in photoshop express, adjusting levels, painting stars and adding text.

Thanks for looking

Wow! I had a lot of fun hunting for that faint smudge at twilight with my little scope, but that was after being clouded out for all the best views. I missed any chance of putting real magnification on this one while it was bright and high, I sure appreciate seeing it this way now. What a view! What a lucky moment to put your eye to the eyepiece! Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic detail here Jon, and what a blessing to have some activity going on while you were at the eyepiece.  I see you still had some anti-tail as well.  Thanks for posting this one.  A great revisit for us!
