Its been awhile but back viewing our star and my lunt50 ds and new skywatcher solarquest mount.   Its so much easier and quicker to setup and do spontaneous viewing.  Been missing my ds views of the sun!   Took it out for its first use last weekend at a remote spot i like at 7000’.  Worked like a charm!   Was able to do some quick views at lunch with it this week and some time after work tonight.

this will be soo much easier to take out to my locale and remote locations and setup compared to the HEQ5 mount.

Those mounts are fantastic for traveling. Fast setup and light.

I am tempted to change the saddle though.

I agree, I’m not too comfortable mounting my scopes on the side like that.  I think there is an add on like an “L” piece that you can attach so you are mounting your scope “normally” but I’d need to look that up again.

Love the SolarQuest. Now, that L Piece you are talking about…

contact Raul at https://www.desertsk...s-adapters.html and see if his adapter will fit your scope. He may be able to make one if not for you also.

That looks great, thanks!  It might be a case though if the scope ends up sitting too far out that it would end up putting too much strain on the mount.

Just make sure that one of the tripod legs is directly under the scope at a right angle to the optical tube, and you should be OK.

I don’t mind the side mount, but did swap for the ADM saddle upgrade.

Which adm saddle did you get?

Yes, im not sure if your scope would fit on the L bracket as it is designed for the PST, However Raul makes them and if he knows your scopes width measurements, he can make one to fit. Then again, your scopes width measurements may fit the parameters. Def give him a call or send an email to him.
