I I recently bought a Starfield refractor with a matching adjustable reducer/flattener. The so-called instruction manual, which is about four sentences long, says that "filters can be added inside the reducer".

Does anyone have a clue what this means? I have a 2" IDAS filter and the only way I can see to install it is to thread it onto the M42 camera connection end of the reducer. There are two problems with this arrangement:

1. The filter only screws on 1 full turn, and seems like a weak connection between the scope and camera.

2. It adds about 8mm between the reducer and camera, which messes up my back spacing.

The bit about "inside the reducer" has me curious if there is something I'm missing. It looks like there is a threaded collar under the bottom element, but the manual doesn't mention this and I don't like the idea of taking a brand new reducer apart.

This is the reducer: https://store.starfi...2mm-telescopes/

I believe it is also sold under Stella Mira and probably a few other brands.
