Unfortunately, our intended featured member was busy with work and family and unable to provide a post to start this month's eBay thread. We certainly hope to hear from him in the future.

The basic guideline for this thread is to list ads and auctions for classic/vintage scopes and associated accessories that others may be interested in. Do not post your own ads or the ads of your friends, this includes items you may be trying to sell for someone else. We request that you do not post photos from ads. If you must have some reference to a photo in the post, post a link to the photo, not the photo itself. Concentrate on the item for sale, and not the seller.

Please post a live link to the item.  Do not post "PM me for the link".Short discussions can take place about the items listed. When quoting a post, edit the quoted post to include only the part you are replying to. Do not post the entire ad text, or large blocks of it, without permission from the author.    Keep on topic,   please!

Buyer Beware- CN is not responsible for any of the ads or auctions posted here or their content. There are some scams floating around, so do your homework before pursuing any ad.

and this note from the moderators

Let's remember everybody, there's no one place that has all the best-used scope finds just as there's no one place that never has anything. All have something. No need to beat subjective matter, whatever the topic, into the ground. For the sake of all of us who love the classic forum, please keep moving the thread forward. Remember that many of your fellow forum members are already vintage themselves. Instead of restating your opinions over and over, consider sharing something new, insightful, or otherwise constructive to the topic at hand.Remember too please, there is no need for raining on other's parades.

The last post in last months thread was about this 80mm AP guide scope

https://www.cloudyni...f11-guidescope/

BomberBob said it's a Mizar, but I'm not so sure about that?

The focuser looks like a Nihon Seiko and the objective cell doesn't appear to have collimation screws as Mizar do.

That's local to me but I'm full. I also have a perfect 80/900mm Vixen already.

The photos don't match the listing. If the photos are correct looks like a Cave 8" OTA with some sort of guide scope.

We discussed last month. I think it is Parks. It's a nice scope.

Good price considering the high reputation of these lenses.

IF I tell my old man about that Edmund he will have kittens! That is one of his most favorite telescopes ever. He had one of those and a matching 3 inch both of which he had to sell to keep a roof over our heads during a bad economic stretch many years ago. What really stinks is that we are currently tapped out and this one is located not too far away so we could drive there in a few hours. DRAT!

I would have loved to give him that for his birthday tomorrow when he begins his 71st trip around the Sun. DOUBLE DRAT!

Add to it that the only one Jeagers lens that we do not have an an f/5 and that makes this a perfect downer. DOG GONE IT!!!!

Note: The actual military grade expletives were replaced with more "family friendly" versions to protect those with weak constitution. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Those are the breaks and that's how the cookie crumbles. LOL

Yeah, I could be mistaken... ALL the other AP 80mm Guidescopes that I've seen previously on CN were clearly MIZAR.  But... I don't recall those having White Tubes, either.  But... the rings use Mizar thumbscrews (like Mizar's counterweights).

Hey!  If it's a Nihon-Seiko, it could be OLDER and Better than a 1980s Mizar...

When did AP start offering these large Guidescopes??

[IF I didn't have my Kenko A80M, I'd drive up to Hotlanta & nab it -- and settle the Who made this??]

Okay...

- Engraved N-S style Focuser + Black Plastic Knobs.

- 2 x Angled Focus Lock Thumbscrews -- Mizar version has the standard 1 on centerline.

- Rings aren't identical with Mizar's GT Series.

- No Push/Pull Lens Cell.

Would it outperform my Kenko... or, my recently sold C80P??  For $103, a Good Newbie 1st Classic...

WHAT I DO KNOW:   Chip's Edmund 4" F15 & Jaegers 6" F5 are Good Deals on a pair of Classic Refractors!   It was Tough parting with my Edmund.  I'm keeping my Jaegers until I can no longer get it in the rings!!

Q

For several years I've heard, the old man this, and the old man that, thinking he must be really ancient.

Now you say he's turning 71.

I'll be turning 70 later this year and while I know I'm getting older, I wouldn't have thought I was in the company of The Old Man! gramps.gif

I suppose you can caulk it up to the perspective of youth?

Well, so far nobody has expressed interest in it. Two people have asked if I'll ship the Jaegers.

I'm actually more surprised that nobody has replied about the 1950's 19" Farquhar celestial globe. I've found auction listings that had them going for over $1k. You can't get a large transparent star globe since the Trippensee CG616 went out of production. But maybe globes just aren't cool any more.

Looks like a later 70's Cave 8" F/8 with the thick end rings.

So here's some pricey Zeiss things.

Zeiss Jena 6mm Monocentric.  They don't say if it's an actual Monocentric or a Hastings Triplet (later Zeiss monos):

https://astromart.co...iece-ernst-abbe

$1500 big ones.

And a Zeiss Jena AS100 on the mount:

https://astromart.co...100-on-1b-mount

This one will set you back $5500 big ones.

Zenmarket: Takahashi Teegul-60.

Clear sky ...

It's been on & off & on again for at least 6 months now...  at least one of the Teegul-100N's sold (I assume - since it hasn't reappeared).

The Low-Light Ad Photo Seller on ZEN has had the same MT-130 for sale for Years...  I'd like to test one against my Mizar 130SL Lambda, but No Way that I'll pay twice that Newt's price for a Tak with Iffier mirrors...

Too Cute!!   Kenko MS-500 OTA w/ Soft Case:   https://zenmarket.jp...ode=j1168010301

BIN   $42.  Pretty Sure this is the same scope as the PENTAX.  Bet it's lighter than my Hutson Chromacor!

Celestron (V?) 1.25" Prism Diagonal:   https://www.cloudyni...diagonal-japan/

BIN   $27 includes shipping.  Joes says it came from an orange-tube C8...

Celestron C5 F10 Black Tube Telephoto w/ Case:   https://www.cloudyni...-f10-telephoto/

BIN   $250 includes shipping.

Price reduced on 12-1/2" Cass, or DK set:

https://www.cloudyni...rain-optic-set/

Too bad he already sold off the primary mirror mount, focuser, and the secondary holder and spider.  But that's what happens when scopes get parted out.

Sure has a large chunk of glass chipped off the central hole.

That's of course a terrestrial scope with an inverter, so the focal ratio of the objective is much shorter than the tube implies. It may still give good performance.
