Even with a 145% price increase, Chinese eyepieces will in many cases be cheaper than TV ones.

Right, I got my XCell Celestron 7mm one at Amazon New for $69 price. My best bet is might as well get the whole XCell set.

Even with the Tarriff it still alot cheaper than the Delite whole set.

I'm always curious, has anyone put their premium Televue eyepieces into a f/15 Mak and compared it to their f/4 fast Refractor, and see if there that much whoa factor with a f/15 Mak?

I always one the Delite 7mm just so I can see if it will be better. I guess I never have a chance to know now.

Australian dollars. Plus there is 10% GST added when it lands on Australian shores. Then the dealer has to make some sort of profit on the sale. If we use a 31T5 Nagler as an example, $734US at Agena = $1175 AUD. It was actually around that price not that long ago. Adding the 10% GST brings to approx $1300.

Don't dealers generally buy things at wholesale prices? That would have bearing on the statement that "the dealer has to make some sort of profit on the sale," and also on the value of the GST.

Clear sky ...

I'm in Australia and recently went to check the price of a new 24mm Panoptic. After seeing it was now over $700, I'm now patiently waiting for one to come up on the used market. Now if I wanted to, I could save some money over the next few weeks and purchase a new 24 Pan. But I have other priorities to where I want to spend money and also plan on buying other astro gear. I just don't think spending over $700 on a new 24 Pan is value for my money.

That's what I thought too. But sometimes it's a little cheaper to buy online from overseas than to buy locally in Australia. Usually I prefer to buy locally and support businesses here, especially if it's just a small difference in price, and it's easier if you need to return a product. I think part of the problem is the market for astro gear is a lot smaller in Australia and so the volume of sales is not the same as like in the US.

At F/15 you don’t need highly corrected TeleVue eyepieces. You are paying extra for wider-field sharpness in faster telescopes. You don’t need to worry that you are missing out - at F/15 you’ll get a great view with much cheaper eyepieces.

Don't forget to add sales tax for a total price and shipping cost too which is the only option in this neck of the woods since every store front/online shop has gone under in BC.....

Picked a Canadian dealer at random for TV current prices:

https://all-startele...tele-vue-canada

 Millionaires club pricing.....

Well, these complex eyepieces would likely cost a similar amount if they were camera lenses, perhaps more.  If the person doesn't have the money, they can at least go downmarket to another brand or again, buy used.

The 24mm Delos is (today) listed there at $7,423. I've owned and used most of the Tele Vue eyepieces and really enjoyed them but $7K is a bit pricey !!!

(I assume the price there is a "place holder" rather than what it might actually be when the eyepiece is released for sale)

 Didn't Vixen make a 1.6mm HR eyepiece?

Down to only $7,214, I’ll take two!

A typo, surely to be corrected once they are in stock, no?

Hey, I dunno man…that could very well be the price they are by the time they get released!

seriously though, it’s got to be a typo.

There are more than that, and they are placeholders.  They have to be high to keep the dopes from attempting to order what isn't in stock.

Sure, there are $8 eyepieces out there.  But lets say you want something like an Delos (e.g., Morpheus), they may end up as expensive or more costly than the TeleVue. Good thing is, most eyepieces today are quite good, even the cheaper ones so if you have to go another way than TeleVue, you aren't going to be in much pain for it.  But not everyone can obtain an AP or Takahashi refractor (not due to affordability necessarily, but availability) so they do with lesser scopes, why should eyepieces be any different?

It certainly generated more publicity here than the $1 placeholder some retailers use for pre-release items.

And I'm not an "edge looker" neither Sir. I put my target right in the middle to look, and if my target move out of the middle I will put my target back in the middle again. Meaning I am the type that look right in the middle on axis. So I think any eyepiece would work with a f/15 as if it on axis right in the middle, basically all eyepiece will perform good.

I'm just going to go for that Long Perng 55 degree ones, it has 20mm eye relief and it under $100 because it only 55 degrees.

Now, if someone could just explain the $8000 prices on Amazon for $50 toy scopes...
