Always wanted to try one of these TECs!  I like the f/6.5 ratio over the f/5.6 of TEC's own 110.  Great value scope, 110 is a great size.

Nice scope, not as good as my 8" newt but won't fit in the Saab with taking the roof down. Can't drive too far like that in Chicago.... Rain.

Guess that leaves Saab's out of picture.  Never knew they were so limited.  And yes any good 8" newt would be better.

1.25" Lunt.  Maybe better seeing tonite and try Jup again. Looks just as white as it did in my TMB105/650.

My 826 is gonna give a much brighter image of Jup at 320x vs the 110.  But the 110 will win at other things.

Congrats Chas, enjoy your scope!!

Super good on open clusters.  Jup is just too low now and Mars is small again.  I could make out some small darker areas and caps were easy. But still small with a 2.5mm eyepiece. Sure don't need a finder as a 27mm Pano gives a wide FOV and finding DSO's is easy.

Why, is there something wrong with the oil spaced triplet now?

it's an oil spaced flowerpower? Sunflower or moonflower oil? :-) Moonflower, great record
Thanks to Trump (God bless him) the oil prices are low and falling still. We may hope for a good bargain at oilspaced fracs

Just got some dust on it after 20 years. Not anything i would ever try to clean as it would get messed up and i don't want whatever i used to leak inside the cell.  I mean you can't tell when looking at something but looking up the OTA without a eyepiece you can see it easy.

Oil is fine.  I checked the dip stick mick.  I think this lens is pretty much a dead heat with my TMB 105/650 so that say's something. Deep sky is just nuts with this scope Jupiter not so much since a 4" scope is not what i would call a planet scope.  Sun looks great and i am sure the moon will also.  This thing would be nuts in a Mag 7 sky for sweeping with a 35mm Pano or a 21mm Ethos.

no objections at all. Was just joking like you do sometimes. I think good oilspaced lenses are better than air spaced ones, and I think in general they're more expensive, too.
And maybe a flourite lens is better anyway sheltured in an oil package.
I'm just a bit puzzled because I didn't read it advertised.
By the specs then this one realy can be a great one, it always comes down to how well and precisely produced it is.

If I was a frac guy, I certainly would consider this one.

That Moonflowerpower oil spaced frac. Omega 3 keeps the flourite element young and springy

I think a TEC lens by heck is up there with the best.  Not sure who made the lens in the shop but they did a good job bob.  Focuser is over built like a tank and butter smooth.

Why not?

I have the same WO 110 TEC oil spaced triplet. I bought it new in 2006. It's my primary solar scope. I also use a ERF from DayStar with my sub-angstrom filters.

I don't remember seeing ads for them back then.  But super well built.
