I just got this telescope that was packaged perfectly (bubble wrap and double boxed) that has a loose objective in the lens cell. I got great views through it already and love the scope but when I turned it while removing from the mount I heard a "clunk" and need to correct this. Has anyone had experience removing a lens cell from an AR102? Thanks in advance,

Tommy

Highly recommend not to remove it if the scope is well collimated.

To collimate, always use the laser pointer and the center 1mm hole on objective side cap to ensure it is collimated.

Steps for collimation is simple but that is when you see misalignment.

Thankfully I didn’t need to remove the objective. I loosened 3 grub screws locking the threaded ring holding the lens cell. By loosening and then tightening the ring my objective is staying in place now.

Hopefully it is not so tight as to pinch the objective.

Thanks Jon, that was my concern too. I didn’t remove the objective, just the threaded ring and retainer ring below it. I cleaned and inspected the parts and then tightened the ring to where the lens has no pressure but no slop either. Next, the 3 grub screws can contort the threaded ring so snug is too much. Barely flexing the ring is where I stopped.
