My question is, how deep does this go? How much has China been manufacturing and producing for premium line products worldwide? Our Pentax, Televue, Takahashi etc etc…

I live near the Takahashi factory in Saitama Prefecture (Japan), and I can assure you they are making something inside that facility. If it isn't telescopes, I'd love to know what it really is. lol.gif

This is the scary part. People have been living a lie for decades. The same ones that were the authority on products are now a laughing stock with their exposed corporations. Now no one knows what to believe anymore! We are going to find out next that Takahashis are made in El Salvador with Japanese stickers all over them and that China had industrial rolls of “Made in the USA” stickers that they’ve been using on their products for years. Seriously, I don’t know what to believe anymore after hearing that news yesterday.

My APM "Super Zoom" has "APM Telescopes/Germany" stamped on it.  Of course, Markus is

clearly violating US law by importing the made-in-China eyepiece without identifying where it is

made, but unlikely anyone is going to do anything about it.

I believe Nike’s corporate headquarters is in Oregon.

True, a tax free country, if you are a consumer. No state sales tax. But still corporate income tax.

Quote from The Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy whoever they are it was just the first thing that popped up:

"One way Nike manages this low U.S. tax rate is by shifting large portions of its domestic profits into offshore tax havens. As of 2016, Nike had $12.2 billion in offshore profits"

Link to full "Fact Sheet":  https://itep.org/fac...-tax-avoidance/

I just feel like I saw a doc forever ago that said the name and logo was owned offshore and that it's license fee was like 95 percent of the cost of a shoe shirt whatever, but hey, I'm not knocking them. If a loophole exist, use it.

Was anyone really surprised that popular luxury brands whose value is derived ONLY in the exclusivity of the name and pricing, rather than their quality, are made in China as cheaply as possible?

Well we have mentions of politics and economic policies.

Once again we ran afoul of ToS.

We're done.
