This just in late last night. WooHoo! Back on this project later today with the new vinyl OTA wrap. The short phenolic tube is the missing focuser slider, the long tube is the barlow that I already had. The finders are the same model. Both finder objectives appear to be factory glued but the lens' are flipped. The black one is convex out, the white one is concave out. The black one gives slightly better resolution with less CA. Either one would be acceptable for the quality level but the side by side distinctly shows my white one was assembled flipped. I always thought the concave out was strange and I'm thankful for the chance to find out.
Three days ago I came across an interesting vintage classic find for the vacuum application of the vinyl wrap. It's about the same age as the scope. I never would go out of my way for this stuff on this scope. I happened to have it all here and the two turbo fans have been in this room for a few weeks while I redesign my heater vent. I wanted a blower specifically made to hold a draw, and not burn up with the intake blocked off for a full day continuous. A squirrel cage would have been ideal but nothing was size compatible. It would have been too hard on the turbos as they would try to suck a rose through a screw hole. I was going to use the green blower with reducers - looking good. Then I came across this forgotten 12 volt, two speed, 4" squirrel cage that is a perfect direct fit. It's been sitting for years with other stuff under a bottom floor shelf in the barn. I completely blocked the intake and it smiled at me for a good long test run. It's old, it's full marine build. It's the original bilge blower from my 61 Chriscraft.
