In case anyone else runs into this issue, I will share my problem and solution.
I bought a Deep Sky Dad motorized flat panel with its special ASIAIR power cable. But I ran into a problem using it last night. I don't think the ASIAIR can run the flat panel properly if you have too many power drawing items connected. My flats were behaving erratically. The mean ADU value was fluctuating wildly from flat to flat even though I was not touching the power setting. I suspected it was a power issue. I have the AA+ pretty well maxed out with the following items powered through the power ports and the various USB ports
- ASI533MM pro with TEC
- ASI174MM guide camera
- AM5 mount
- ASI EFW filter wheel
- DEW NOT heater strip for a 5 inch refractor
- EAF focuser
- Deep Sky Dad motorized flat panel
Apparently these item draw too much total power for the ASIR to distribute correctly. But the fix was simple. Turn off the heater strip while taking the flat. Flats were perfect after I did this. Then turn the heater back on when done with flats. So if you see some weird flat panel behavior, you may need to try something similar.
