Hi friends,

I just had my C11 professionally cleaned and collimated and now I want to add a finder scope.  It doesn't have a bracket so I bought a bracket and a 9x60 illuminated finder.  My question is about placing the bracket.  I take it that the three pairs of screws on the top of the OTA are to be used for mounting finder scopes or guide scopes, but I don't want to unscrew them in case I'm wrong and they are related to the placement of the primary mirror.  Am I right about those screws being there for that purpose?  Thanks in advance!

You can see in this image that the bolts to mount finder brackets and other accessories are slightly closer to the rear of the scope, than the bolts that attach the tube to the rear cell:

Hope this helps.

You should have two sets of screws on the rim of the scope at the back to mount a finder shoe.  You can also add an ADM dovetail bar opposite the main dovetail bar to mount scopes or accessories.  The bar would span the entire OTA.  I use one to mount either a 66mm ED refractor or a 50mm guide scope in tube rings to my Edge 8.

One other idea is to mount a Telrad optical finder using a Telrad base with double stick tape to the OTA rather than a 9x60 optical finder.  I personally prefer the Telrad to just about any optical finder.

Regards,

Patrick
