Moving back to visual, got my eyepiece set back to what I had before I sold most of them off.

For a long time I was really into AstroPhotography. I even did 2 gallery shows and sold off all my prints except for 1 I kept. What this meant was that I wasn't using my eyepieces and as AP was expensive I sold off a lot of my Televues. Then about 5 years ago, I really slowed down AP and even visual. To the point I sold off a few telescopes and almost all my 1.25" inchers and moved the money to other assets. But a few weeks ago, I missed the night sky and went out.

It was nice to be visual again. So I made a plan to get back to where I was. I picked up an eyepiece at NEAF and then sold off some "assets" I had purchased with telescope money and put that money back to eyepieces.

I also needed a new case, but since I was still playing with a "final" set I made some changes to the foam again. For now I only have 1 more on the list which is a 24MM (1.25") but the eyepiece case is now filled.

Top Row:

31MM Nagler T5

20 MM ES 100*

14 MM ES 100*

9 MM ES 100*

5.5 MM ES 100*

Middle Row:

9MM Delite

15MM Delite

18.2 MM Delite

Bottom Row:

3.5 MM Nagler T6

7 MM Nagler T6

11 MM Nagler T6

Not In This Case:

7.2-21.5 Lunt Zoom

18 MM Celestron Ultima Edge

Undecided. I was thinking the Celestron Ultima Edge. They are nice eyepieces.

The new Pan is nice but double the price…. Still on the fence.

Nice getting back into it isn't it ?  I went through a similar situation except instead of AP it was binoculars and life that took over 17-18 years ago . In the last couple months I purchased a new 10" Dob , 1/2 dozen Pentax XW's , catseye tools and upgraded and added things for my new dob . Lots of fun for me and hopefully for you as well . Now we are losing our darkness so I really won't be able to have a lot of fun with my new stuff until autumn .

I actually would over do it. Any clear night I was out, to the point that I would be tired on work days. I'm going to ease back into it slowly, a few nights/days a month.

I did go $$$$$ crazy on getting my eyepiece stable back (yep ordered 25MM Ultima Edge, as I found $50 cheaper than MSRP and with tariffs the prices will go UP). But after the last eyepiece I'm going to enjoy what I have.

I have 1 other hobby that I've also haven't touched in a while and I do need to upgrade my DSLR, so going to start saving up for that.

My wife went thru our albums and had me print a 24 by 36” print on metal. She said I needed to start taking pictures again.

Bless that lady’s heart!- definitely listen to her- she’s onto something! waytogo.gif

Life can get nutz!…. And it’s shorter than ANY of us are prepared for. So do whatcha love, & love whatcha do!

Glad you’ve come full circle, returning to your Astro roots! laugh.gif

Helder,

Welcome back!  The stars have been patiently waiting for your return, and I expect you have no trouble finding your way around - again!  waytogo.gif

I went through the imaging - visual changes a couple of times over my 63+ years in astronomy.  The first time, I realized that the camera (35mm) was having all the fun - and I was stuck in the darkroom, processing film and printing contact sheets.  That actually killed my photography interest, and since then I rarely carry a camera around when I travel.  The only time I looked through the telescope back then was to frame and focus the view.

I am now a very happy visual astronomer, and I can spend my nights enjoying the tourist objects, my double stars, and variable stars.  I will do that forever.

Stay Happy! flowerred.gif

Ron

Thanks Guys!

My last eyepiece came in! I have a day off tomorrow and while I have some errands I have about 3 hours so hoping to get some solar visual done. I hope to get pictures of my current eyepiece set!
