Ive been using my EQ8Pro for 5 years now with no issues but last night I noticed something which im not sure is new behavior or if its always done it but I just hadn't noticed.
So I was Collimation my 8" set on Alkaid last night and obviously after each adjustment you have to re centre the star, but I had real hard time getting it to perfectly centre.
I noticed that when pressing the dec buttons I was getting a small amount of RA movement almost like I was pressing the wrong button on the gamepad, so instead I sed the on screen buttons in EQMod but same thing happened, it would move in RA for a small amount before it then moved in Dec. I thought it might be something to do with being near the pole.
Just went out to check in daylight and removed the RA motor cover and to my surprise whenever I press either dec direction button I can see the RA motor pauses for a split second maybe 1/10th sec before resuming, if I put my ear to the motor I can hear it stop then it seems to speed up until its caught up again. If I turn tracking off then there is no movement at all of the RA motor when pressing Dec buttons as I would expect.
I just don't know if this is normal behavior for EQmod and EQ8 and maybe EQ6 too, or if something is going wrong with the motor controller's.?
The thing that concerns me most is what happens when im Autoguiding and it sends a dec correction, is it stopping the RA then for a split second too?
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers , Lee
