focuser_2.1.jpg

Hello to you stargazers using Sky watcher Heritage telescopes. I have a 150P and as many of you know the focuser is a POS. There are precious few options that are really desirable, but I have one for you all!

I stumbled upon a guy who has 3D printed a nice piece to replace the lousy OEM focuser on the collapsible Skywatcher. No use of tape to stiffen the focuser or use of hose clamps to tighten the eyepiece holder so it doesn't slop around. The piece is printed from an STL file in a 3D printer. The result is a light, precise, OEM looking eyepiece holder.

I paid the developer $15.00 for the files and $25.00 to a friend to print it for me. Cheap, it looks great and it's lighter than the OEM focuser. I've been using it for about 4 months now and I'm very happy with it. Because the threads are finer the adjustment is easier and more precise. There are 5 pieces to print and then assemble, (very easy), and provides two pieces for the focuser. One for eyepieces and the other for barlow, (I use the one for barlow for everything since it is stronger).

Is the knurled knob a helical focusing ring?
