Arp 49 (NGC 5665, UGC 9352, PGC 51953, VV 412 and others) is a spiral galaxy located approximately 53.6 million light-years away in Bootes. Part of Arp’s ‘Companions on Arms – High Surface Brightness Companions’ class, I think the companion is just a clump to the left (east) of center in one of the arms.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8:10:8x300s – 40:50:40 minutes each – binned 2x2

370 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 10 minutes

Imaged April 18th and 21st, 2023 and April 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th and 27th, 2025 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.

Nice image. These little galaxies can be a challenge. I’m making my way through the Arp galaxies and they can be fun to image. Lots of odd shapes.
