hi there chaps

today i got upto the latest version of siril version 1.4.0 beta1

and its not doing what i want it too ( maybe because its beta ?? )

anyways

on stretching ... if i use the general hyperbolic stretch transformation , which is all i ever use in my workflow,  as i am stretching the data everything is becoming blurry which i never had in the older version

but when i use the histogram transformation by clicking the 1 click stretch cog it all seems normal  whats that all about ???

also now when i want to do colour calibration the only option i have now is "colour calibration" but photometric colour calibration is now greyed out and when i hover over the greyed out option its saying WARNING  image must be plate solved / again ive never had this before and in older version its worked pretty flawless

should i just delete current siril and go back to older version and stick with that ???

To run color calibration (SPCC or PCC) you now have to plate solve the image first. To do that, go to tools menu, astronmetry and click plate solve.

Not sure what you’re experiencing with stretch. I haven’t tried that yet. Can look tonight if no one else can help.

We noticed no bug in the stretch.

Several of the new features require plate solving, so they moved that to its own function to eliminate redundancy. It doesn’t bother me. Like I said I’ll try the stretch later. Honest question: Are you sure your image’s focus isn’t soft to begin with?

cheers mate , the subs were shot using seestar S50 , about 23hr of data a mix of 20sec and 30 sec subs , around 3200+ subs

i use DSS only to see how much exposure total i have , and normally stack in siril and with 2x drizzle , so 3 lots of 2x drizzle made into a final master with a further 2xdrizzle so you can imagine the final file is freekin huge lol.gif

also the 2 images i posted at the start of the thread you can see one is clearly blurry over the other

il take alook at the links

No it is not blurred. It is just a stetch processing not complete IMO. Especially with GHS which is a bit complicated.

Hmmm. Does drizzling already drizzled data gain anything? I’m not sure! 🤔

(drizzle * 2 + drizzle * 2 + drizzle * 2) * drizzle=???

Im not sure this works does it?

It took me a while to get the starnet program to connect to my Siril, but now that I have it working in the 1.2 beta, if I upgrade to the new beta, will I have to put in the directory for starnet all over again?

I cropped, did gradient removal and deconvolution in Graxpert I can't get denoising to run in Graxpert, but that is another issue), and then saved the file as a tiff. (I am trying the work flow of Abdul Astro, but he is working with an earlier version of Siril).

However apparently to plate solve in Siril, I need to work with a fits file? So saxve it in Graxpert as a 32 bit tiff?

I'm getting an error message: "Plate solving failed. The image could not be aligned with the reference stars".

Every time I try processing, I realize why I just stick with a lightly tweaked image directly from the Seestar. Someday, probably soon, all this will be obsolete and ZWO will be able to do everything in the app- gradient removal, deconvolution, color calibration- it already does denoising.

To plate solve you either need a stacked FITS file which would have the target coordinates embedded, or you can look up your target in the plate solve window. For example for Andromeda you would search for M31.

Yep. It is not a blind solver, you need to have coordinates and image scale that are in the right ballpark to start with. These can come either from fits header, by manually entering them into the boxes, or by searching for an object (you might still need to enter focal length and pixel size manually if you search for an object).
