My old man signed up for that goofy site. He sent a message to the person. No reply whatsoever. Needless to say, after going through a bothersome signup and then no response, his opinion of the site and it's sellers is not a nice one. At least they could say no or not interested. Some people. BAH! I think he will be cancelling his account by the weekend.

Q

Update:

My old man said he did receive a note from the fellow stating that because of the shenanigans going on at the border he did not want to come across. He had my dad are on the same page so, someone else can have at that freebie.

FWIW

Label looks like a D-K (JP) rebrand.  Should have a good Lens.

14 Hours to go...   Mizar CX-153 J-B EQ Complete Kit:   https://zenmarket.jp...ode=q1179258002

BIN   $200.  Total with shipping could hit $500...

Nice!  Small RFT...   Mizar BN-80 F5 w/Custom Brackets:   https://zenmarket.jp...ode=h1184004817

BIN   $72.  These are excellent RFTs, with TAK-like build quality.

That scope is absolutely worth $500! I just don't have the space for more cabinets.

Reminder - same scope as the Tasco 16T.

There is little rigor.  It's like Facebook with it's ages old ads where the people who placed them could be dead for all we know.  I got a couple scopes of it, but i'd had the old hermit not respond, some people have weird fears.

It's expensive, classic eyepiece day.

ZAO 34mm:

https://astromart.co...abbe-ortho-34mm

$2000 and buyer pays shipping.

Same seller:

https://astromart.co...-pentax-brandon

2 Zeiss Jena 10mm $570

2 AP Super Planetarys 8mm $900

2 Zeiss microscope eyepieces $750

2 Nikon Zooms 7-21 with 1 1/4 adapters $500

Plus some others.

All of the prices seem high.  Considering the ZAO strenths, I've never been interested in the 34mm as I don't have any scopes with really long focal lengths.  The ad says in excellent condition, but the side view of the upper barrel looks like there's some wear, and there are no pics of the eye or field lenses.

I'm not sure this is a "classic":

https://www.cloudyni...rite-refractor/

Tak sells a FC76-DCU for $1600, but no FC-76DC.  I'm thinking this may be its predecessor?  Price is only $900.

1952 Unitron - Verono Wisconsin - Not sure of the model, but wants $1,500. Says that it is complete.

https://www.facebook...6e-a7cf8da9a2b4

I went and saw this yesterday but did not buy it. Sold now, so I was hoping someone from here got it. Needed a thorough cleaning and reconditioning, but should clean up nicely.

Was a Unitron 142, here is what I remember came with it:

  • OTA in box, dirty but no dents I saw. Believe the focuser was an upgrade to a super
  • EQ mount in box, looked good. There was a different kind of light on the base that was inside a cover that covered the whole bottom. I think it was Unitron, but I hadn't seen one before.
  • Unihex A in wood box
  • Standard set of Unitron eyepieces in wood box. Separate was a 1.25" Unitron EP
  • Legs in wood box
  • Some other wires and doodads that I'm not sure what they are

Someone will have fun with this!

I consider mine a "Classic", but then it was made 28 years ago (1997), and I'll definitely never part with it!

$900 is a great deal, and you can't beat free shipping all the way from Japan. Seller has a ton of 5 star ratings as well. Grab it while you can!

Nice revue here on Scope Views...

This may or may not be a classic, AFAIK Meade started making these back in the late 1980s. 8" Meade SN-8 Schmidt-Newtonian in Kingston, ON for $450 CAD, OTA, rings and dovetail only (no mount, finderscope or eyepieces):  https://www.kijiji.c...cope/1716740073

The Tak FC-76 punches way above its weight class      mine is a keeper

Mine stays out in the shed most of the time -- mounted & ready to go.

The 826 is another high performance scope.  Serious competitor with the 6" EDs -- for a lot less $$$.  And, it's a Collectible now.

I purchased the Goto Hershel wedge, filter and 9mm Hm eyepiece. These .965 solar wedges do not come up for sale often so I am willing to defer to folks who have been waiting a while to find them.

The Zeiss microscope eyepiece pair price is absurd.  The others are somewhat high.  $2000 may sound like a lot for the 34mm, but it is rare.
