Hello,

I'm running Stellarmatex on a Mele Quieter2.

I have a problem with my AAG Cloudwatcher. It connects, but I get a messsage that Ekos is "unable to retrieve data"

I messaged the developer, sent logs via the Stellarmate app but haven't had any further replies (other than the message to send logs) in a couple of weeks.

Has anyone any idea how to fix this?

The Cloudwatcher works perfectly with Nina, but I'd like to go back to Stellarmatex if I can get this working...

I am using a brand new prolific chip serial to usb converter.

Thanks

Gary

I don't have either StellarMate or a CloudWatcher, but what is the connect/config data that you do have ?

Like

  1. the relevant syslog lines when the prolific chip in the usb to serial converter is connected
  2. an 'ls -la' of the device in /dev showing the group and user access restrictions
  3. maybe another device driver 'attaches' to this entry (silly things like modem manager)
  4. screenshots of how the cloudwatcher is addressed from within StellarMate
  5. screenshot of any error message

Not sure if it uses a standard USB style cable, but the first step is to use a new cable for the device.

A second suggestion... see if you can find an FTDI  USB chipset device.  I have had issues with some bogus Prolific "branded" chipsets in the past on serial->USB cables I have purchased.  I have never had an issue with the FTDI ones.  It is well known that there were a LOT of bogus PL-2303HX Rev A chipsets being sold through Chinese related markets.

From the "it connects" I'd infer that the serial link is ok - in other words from the INDI driver screen the AAG is configured correctly and comes up connected.  So the driver is polling the device and returning an "unable to retrieve data" error message. Is that accurate?

Did you try posting on the forums at indilib.org? And put a ticket in with Stellarmate? Seems more productive that posting on CN.
