Hi all. I am curious if anyone knows how the slow motion mechanism works on a Zeiss Telementor T-1 mount. Seems to not be a geared system. Some sort of friction action.  Thanks.  Mark

Spring loaded tangential drive. Very simple and reliable.

It's been years... but, don't you have to "rewind" each axis?  IOW, the system doesn't use a continuous 360* slo-mo gear, like my newer EQs...

Yes, you have about half an hour's worth of slow motion in RA, after which you have to reset it. During normal observations, I almost never use the RA slow motion, preferring instead to push the scope along like an equatorial Dobsonian.

So... my memory is better than I remembered -- good.  The DEC Axis on my Mizar EQs has to be reset, too.  Ditto for the 60-year old TAK S-1.  Kenko got it right:  the NES (& KDS-AZ) has 360* gears on both axes.

Yes you do. Your memory is functioning correctly.

The other major quirk with the telementor mount is that the numbers refer to the Hour Angle (HA) value, not the Right Ascension (RA) value, so you have to do an extra calculation to use them.

To use mine I set my watch to Local Sidereal Time, then HA=LST-RA, and if negative then add 24 hours.
