I've seen the listings for their dobsonian telescopes on Agena Astro and Astronomics, but not these "smart" scopes.

There's next to nil information about them in the listings. No real specs or even sample images. Web listings need a lot of work.

Yes, I doubt these are real products yet. In fairness to Spectrum, they picked the absolute worst time to launch a new product line.

They look interesting, but at this point appear to be vaporware. Hopefully they don't remain that way.

The smart scope they have listed on their site :

https://spectrumoi.c...starpilot-i-53/

has a couple of downsides... one is price at $800 compared to the Seestar. The other as mentioned above is no real sample images . The app is available at the App store, but has one review which is 5 star, but obviously take that with a pound of salt. The few images of the app have chinese mixed in with english and icons. I didn't bother to download it. Nothing mentioned about filter options.

That said, it may have some upsides, assuming they actually get the product out there. It appears that it is modular, that is, you could likely upgrade the scope, imager etc . It is supposedly both EQ and Alt Az. The 50mm smart scope sure makes a lot more sense to me than the 127mm Mak smart scope they have listed, unless of course someone was just interested in planets.

Has to be tough to compete with ZWO though.

There was a MirroSky smart telescope kickstarter a couple years sgo. Perhaps Spectrum acquired the technology or the original group re-branded itself. I remember that the original kickstarter offered in alt-az the combination 127 Mak along with the smaller guide-scope where you could switch the camera between the scopes. The idea was that for DSO, you would use the guide-scope to find and image. You would use the 127 Mak just for visual. For planets or moon, though, you could use the guide-scope to find the object and then either enjoy the planet visually through the 127 Mak or switch the camera over to the 127 Mak. It looks like one of the Spectrum offering is this original offering from kickstarter. The other offerings are set-ups using only that guide-scope by itself and other set-ups for eq-mode.

I agree that the descriptions on the spectrum website need a lot more information and sample images. I don’t yet have enough information to know if these are real actual good working products.

For those that want more information on the Mirrosky product line offered by Spectrum-optical, do some searches for mirrosky.

You should be able to find links to the original mirrosky kick-starter page and see specs there at least for how it was a few years ago.

https://www.kickstar...ula-photography

There is also a mirrosky.com page but it is in Chinese and the English link was not working for me.

I also see some Facebook groups dedicated to mirrosky that you could investigate as well as comments about mirrosky in other facebook telescope groups.

There are some Youtube videos as well.

Even a few forum pages here at cloudyNights about mirrosky.

My only cursory perusing is that the kickstarter deliveries were about a year over-due but people did end-up getting the scope but there were some usability issues and difficulties in getting some ad-on accessories.

My only advice is to research it before you buy.

the sponsors status on these is "more on the way" which implies some have sold. Is that true?

there is a mirrosky app for iPad and iPhone, not for laptop or desktop but a macbook easily runs iPad and iPhone apps.

I would have been interested in q Mak-based smart scope.  However if you read what little info is available on this, it appears that the Mak version uses the Mak as a visual scope and the included 50mm scope for astrophotography.  Something of a hybrid setup.
