About two months ago, I imaged the part of the sprawling M81 Group that clusters around M81 itself. In this image, I returned to the group to image NGC 4236, one of its peripheral members.
NGC 4236 is fairly large, but relatively dim (and hence, not that frequently imaged). It is classified as a barred Magellanic spiral, which means that it has a single spiral arm. Lying about 14.5 million light years from Earth, NGC 4236 is more distant from us than most of the other members of the M81 Group.
Equipment and acquisition information may be found on the Astrobin page.
