I am picking up a 12" LX200gps and an X Wedge from our local astronomy club that I am a member of. I have seen them at the club but not inspected everything closely. I do have to order a hand controller which scopebits has. The wedge I only saw in the dark so I do not know if it has any hardware like the longitude adjustment plate or mounting hardware. It is assembled but I cannot confirm those items are included. I am looking to get the hardware or find something that will work(nuts and bolts) and was seeing if anyone had any recommendations?

The scope looks to be in excellent shape just missing the controller which is not a big deal with the 3rd party options available. It's just the x wedge I am a little concerned about as I want to do some photography and guiding with this scope. It is a heavy scope and the X wedge seems to be the best option. I just want to make sure I can mount everything correctly. If anyone has any bolt sizes or hardware sizes that would be amazing if you can let me know.

Gabe, go to this website for instructions and hardware for the X-Wedge. This is the one I just bought from High Point. Don’t get confused by looking at and “Ultrawedge” or a “Super Wedge”. They are older versions of their recommended wedge for their larger scopes and they changed the hardware dramatically. Also you didn’t mention which tripod it was used on. The tangent arm is the first thing you install and it may be missing or still on the tripod it was used on. I bought the Super Field Tripod with my 12” which works well with it.

Hope this helps.

Hrllo Gabe,

I have a 10" Classic, now on a concrete pier and a big wedge from AstroParts (whoever they are?).

A while back, I came across a short list of LX200 screw and bolt sizes, subsequently adding one or two more as I progressed. Anyway, it may be helpful. My notes in parentheses. Some details may be specific to the 10" OTA.

(Thread Size x N" where N is the length if known)

OTA end ring screws (16) = #8-32 x 1/2" (UNC)
Finderscope mount base (2) = 1/4"- 20 x 3/4" Nylon (UNC)
Finderscope mount rings (6) = 10-32 x 3/4" Nylon (UNC)
1¼" Diagonal prism thumbscrew (1) = M3 x 0.5" (Metric)
1¼" Telenegative Barlow #122, 1998 thumbscrew (1) = M3 x 0.5" (Metric)
2" Diagonal (2) = M3 x 0.5" (Metric)
2" to 1¼" Adapter (1) = M4 x 0.7" (Metric)
1¼" Visual back (1) =  M4 x 0.7" (Metric)
8" & 10" Field Tripod leg screws (6) = 1/4"- 20 x 9/16" (UNC rosette head)
Scope base mounting bolts, for wedge mounting (3) = 3/8"-16 (UNC length unknown - try 30mm)
Tripod Head mounting bolts, for wedge mounting (3) = 5/16"-18 (UNC length unknown)
(Base central bolt 1/2" UNC)
Mirror locking bolt / 'travel bolt' with red head (hole is next to focus knob) (1) 1/4" x 20 (UNC length unknown)

I believe it is the giant tripod, the one with 2 inch tubes... I am heading to the club tonight to take a closer look and see if I can find any hardware laying around. This is the only photo I have of the scope.

Looks right to me.

Went to go check it out last night. It turns on and works well with a hand controller from another lx in the club. I ordered a new scopebits CLICKSTAR that should be here soon. I did find out this is not a 12” but it is a 10”. Not a big deal as that just means it’s a little lighter 😅. There is also a rolling JMI case for it but the wheels seem a bit old and beat up. I’ll have to inspect it more to see if I want it. There was the piece on the tripod for the wedge azimuth control to sit so that’s a plus! I just need to find all the other mounting hardware for the X Wedge.
