I've recently added an RB Focus eXcalibur Flat Panel to my observatory refractor, and had a question about power on. Normally, the devices are powered off when my observatory isn't being used, and I noticed when you apply 12v DC power to the RB flat panel, even though it's already closed/covering my scope, you can hear the motors engage immediately trying to 'close' the flat panel. This occurs before a PC connection is established, in NINA for example, using the ASCOM driver and USB-serial connection.
I noticed in the manual and for the RB Focus ASCOM driver, there's a "Servo Trimmer" close value/setting, which I haven't changed and default value is 0. The manual doesn't include details on this, only a paragraph on the very last page stating "It is recommended that when adjusting the closure of the Flat Panel. Make sure to stop the motor just as soon as it touches the surface of the telescope. Since if we exert pressure on the telescope, it will cause excess power in the mechanism causing damage to the motor unit."
So just wondered what this means, and do I need to worry about damaging the motors? All I'm doing is powering off and on, then connecting to equipment in NINA.
Thanks
