So, I rolled out the EVO8 last night. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been out with it. Did a two-star alignment with the HC, but all I got was "Failed, Failed, Failed, Failed..." Spent hours trying to figure out the problem. Got so frustrated that I called it a night. I was 100% sure I had entered all the data correctly.

Early this morning, I looked at the notes I had made. Then I noticed the date. I had written down 4/13/25—a month earlier! Sure, it won’t be the last time I do something so stupid.

I was going through all the settings on my Evolution 8 handheld and could not find anything where you can set to 24hr Military Time format....

I see this online "To set military (24-hour) time on a Celestron NexStar mount, navigate to the time setting menu on the hand control and select "24-hour" when prompted for the time format

What am I missing?

Welcome to the club!  (We all do stupid things sometimes...it's just people who make a lifestyle out of it that I try to avoid. ;-) )

Mine was leaving the end cap on the SSAG while trying to align my AVX (to my defense, I DID get to the site late and had to set up in the dark).  The strange thing was that it worked the first time, just a tiny bit off on my first target.  When I did a factory reset of the SSAG and tried to align again, THAT's when it kept failing.  I got discouraged after awhile and started to pack up, which is when I discovered that the end cap was on!  D'oh!!!  So, I put the SSAG back on and removed the cap and things worked so much better after that!  LOL!

Get a HBG3, or even just the GPS board Mark makes and never worry about that again.

Even if you don't go with that option, try setting the scope for UTC time, as that's what Celestron uses internally (so I understand) and the offset is just for display and ease of user use.

Use a GPS app on your phone/tablet to get the UTC time and never worry about DST changes again.

Thanks for the info. I do have the hgb3 from Mark that just has the WIFI/BT. I use it with a Nunchuck for slewing only. I basically use my EVO with Sky Portal app - most of the time.

I added a GPS receiver to my own HBG3, for the odd times I use the hand-controller instead of SkyPortal/SkySafari.
