Hello everyone,

I recently picked up a Celestron SkyProdigy 130 mount as part of a job lot of astronomy equipment. I have now spent 3 evening trying to get the mount to align. The only alignment mode that I have had any success with is the solar system align. Celestron support have responded and I have tried the things they suggest with no success.

If I try the auto align, the tube moves to the home position, the handset states it is "acquiring image" it then moves onto a second position at which point the hand set states "Alignment Aborted".

If I try the manual alignment option pointing at a clear area of sky and pressing enter the hand controller displays "Align Step Error", "Align Error : 3", "AIS Error : 5".

Tripod is level, OTA level at power on. I have tried resetting the handset to default. The correct date, time and location are entered. I have over 180 degrees of sky clear to the horizon and I always start off point to the left so that the mount can slew clockwise and still have clear sky.

One thing I did notice after using solar system align with the moon the other evening was than when I switched on lunar tracking the tracking was rubbish with the moon drifting off to the left (if I remember correctly).

Has anyone come across this issue before and fixed it or is the mount destined for land fill.

Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Phil
