hello guys, do you think the diffused light I had in my room could have damaged my lenses? I confirm that the lenses have no external defects such as dark spots for example. there were no direct solar rays, the sun was in the west and my room points to the north.
Have any of you used it in these conditions? Diffused daylight without direct rays. thanks in advance

I can't imagine how diffuse daylight might damage glass lenses. What gives you cause for concern?

Can you post a picture of the "damage" ? For how long it has spent a time in the room exposed to the diffused sunlight (with no objective cap) ?

My two FSQs are occasionally exposed to direct and diffused sunlight before the sunset, never experienced any problems.

I don't see any problem with the optics from this photo. If you also didn't notice anything, just close the aperture cover next time to keep it clean and dust free.

Don't worry.  It is perfectly safe to use the telescope in the daytime for landscape viewing or bird watching.  Daytime use will not damage the scope.

Congratulations on your new Tak refractor! smile.gif

There's nothing wrong with your new scope just based on the photos that you've provided.

What mount and eyepieces, other accessories, are you going to be using with you your new scope?

Ciao, dici davvero? Questi modelli vengono utilizzati in diurno? Dove posso vedere come fanno ad utilizzarli?

thank you very much for the answer, for now I would like to go visual without taking pictures, later then take a nice setup to take pictures. but I am undecided whether at this point to immediately opt for an expensive mount that I can reuse in the future or go for a simple mount.

Since you stated you are currently a beginner, do not overcomplicate things with your mount. Go for an enjoyable mount, easy to use mount that is stable enough for your visual uses. Could be a sturdy alt-az mount for low-medium magnifications (15-75x) Or a driven equatorial mount to facilitate higher power observing (100-250x). In the Tak world, that would be an EM-10 or EM-11, preferably with a sturdy tripod like the ones made for the EM-200, they work well with the EM-10/11 too.

Astrophotography is a different and specialized game, get the right mount and accessories you need for that at the time you want to seriously dive into imaging with that scope. It will save you a lot of weight and bulk for now. Otherwise, in the Tak world, the EM-200 with any of it’s native tripods is a fine choice and even a good mount now. Outside of Tak, many other great options exists, but that is better explored in the future. Start using the scope to enjoy the beauty of the universe with it visually!

Wow, a $7,000 refractor for a beginner. I see why you're worried. I had an old Tasco when I was starting out.

thanks a lot erik, I wanted to ask you a couple of things. do you think that starting in visual without taking photos could still give me satisfaction with this telescope? also do you recommend that I still get a motorized mount even if I would have to put it aside for a better pugrade to take photos? thanks again
