My HDX110's polar scope is looking a little rough, coating on the lenses are scratched and has some internal trash in the optics, the silver scale is bent and the whole scope needed some cleanup/disassembly/TLC.

I took a chance and ordered this from the HPS Meade/Orion sale.

VERY similar and the mounting threads are the same size and pitch.

Fits like it was made for it.!! grin.gif

Even the cover fits.

The eyepiece is farther to the rear, right at 1/2 inch, so it may have a clearance issue issue with some mount/tripod combos.

I tried to take a couple of pics of the reticle on both, but its tough.

The reticle is simpler than the original one and easier to read but maybe not as easy to use.

Not bad for $59.95 plus free shipping.

And no tear-down and cleaning of the original.

Yea I know alot of people no longer use polar scopes but its nice to have a option when you just want to go visual and set up quickly setting up the mount and just using the hand controller.

Thanks, this is helpful. I recently bought a secondhand HDX110 and the polar scope reticle is a mess, so I followed your lead and ordered one of these. Appreciate the thorough report and photos.

Clear skies,

Paul

Your welcome!

I don't know how easy, or harder, it is to use but at least it looks alot nicer than the original one.

Also the "on" pic really does not show how sharp it is, plus the focus is much nicer than the original one.

A  little more info.

It seems the Explore Scientific EXOS2 illuminated polar scope uses the same reticle.

So ignore most of the instructions, some of that made my head hurt reading lol.gif, that come with the LX85 polar scope and just use this.
