Hi All,
In the past, May has been quite a good month for imaging from Canberra, but wretched seeing and veils of clouds have prevailed this year. Meanwhile, my favourite planet has not helped by receding to 6 arcsecs, countered only marginally by a slight rise in declination.
Last night there was a gap in the clouds and I raced out to have a go while I still can for this apparition, and found the seeing somewhat improved - that is, I could just make out blurry albedo features in the live feed, so still not great.
Nevertheless, the images here show clouds over the Lunae plain, with Ascraeus Mons, one of the Tharsis chain, peering out at the terminator. The NPC is now reduced to a mere blob.
In the next few days, I am hoping to image a brightening frosty Hellas as it hoves into view.
Regards
Mark
