So far, so good. The field is 82 degrees, though it's not as much as I thought it was. 82 degree eyepieces don't live up to the hype I thought ig.

It's a nice weight to it, only a tad heavier than my 18mm. Looks nice as well.

Tomorrow I'll use it in the field, and I'll compare its sharpness on the edge of field, at the 82 degree mark and 65 degree mark, and at the center, versus my 18mm 65 degree widefield eyepiece.

Celestron Luminous in a different body. Same as Sky Panorama etc. At 65° in F/5 should be OK, at least what Ernest's bench test has showed.

It is the clone of the Luminos. What about it that you didn't like? You do have a fast scope though, so you probably need something like Televue for outer edges correction.

?

From all the hype I felt 82 degrees would be wider.

It's still wide, certainly an improvement.

Keep in mind this is from holding it up to my eye. Haven't tested it yet.

I haven't looked through it yet, other than holding it up to my eye. I just thought 82 degrees would be wider than I thought. It's still good, but I had high expectations I guess.

It is ALOT wider once you see it under the sky, looking through it against a white wall, No. You need to get out in the sky to see it.

I can tell you this, I have the most beautiful view of the Orion Nebula with this 82 degrees eyepiece.

I did end up return it because it was way too heavy for my 90mm aperature scope, it literally vibrate my scope, it a 1 lb (16 oz) eyepiece. I got the 10mm Luminos one.

Yeah the luminos is a lot heavier than this one. I'll give reports tomorrow night or Tuesday.

Silly that they'd designed it with an aluminum skin that really had little to no purpose.  This is a problem not with just eyepieces, but some telescopes today that are overbuilt so they look good but whose functionality isn't improved by it.

I wasn't aware that 'waterproof 'meant water is allowed to enter the eyepiece.grin.gif

Or that the water would have an unobstructed view.lol.gif

These Chinese companies (Barsta in this case) need to hire English speakers to write their ads.

For instance, they have a 70° line called "SWA".  The 82s should have been 'UWA',

"Compact" is also a relative term.  "Small and light" would have been more appropriate.

"Allows any water enter the interior and always enjoy an unobstructed view" should have been, "Prevents moisture from entering the eyepiece, yielding a clear image always free of internal fogging or mold"

I tried it tonight.

The 82 degrees us MUCH more pronounced at night. Compared to the 65 degree, stars are tighter all around. Even at the very edge, it's the exact same as the 65 degree. The 65 degree is cometlike from the outside 20% I'd say, the 82 degree is cometlike from the outside 10% perhaps. Tested on Vega. It is nice and lightweight, but certainly not compact. No comment on the waterproofing.

Also, EOFB is present, but its mainly because of the high light pollution.

I've wondered if this might be the case as to why I don't see EOFB in the 4.5mm Morpheus while others do.

You should see a bigger field of view of the sky though. Try it at the Beehive in Cancer when sunset.

I actually like it tbh, it just it heavy and big (even with it being smaller than the Luminos), but my scope is small aperature so it hard on my scope size.

I mean, their English sound like me Sir, lol

I actually like this clone of Luminous, it just the eyecup is tough to fold down. I wear glasses so I always need the eyecup down.

BTW, you can unscrew the eyecup to get more eye relief or install DIY eyecup instead. They designed so to attach camera to eyepieces for AP. Folding down isn't a good thing; I've seen in CNC similar eyepieces with the eyecup broken.

It does give a bigger fov, much better than my other eyepieces and it's amazing under the sky.

If you like 82 degrees, the AstroTech 82 degrees SWA https://astronomics....=Astro-Tech UWA

That the series. It $119, never go on sale, but that the price. There other focal length in there you might like.

Reviews actually say the AstroTech 82 degrees is better than the Astromania/Luminos 82 deg (the one you have).

But reviews to me it subjective, whether people like to admit it or not, we all have our bias, and we form our reviews by our personal experience. What work for one people might not work for others.

So you need to try one yourself, don't just go by reviews.
