I really thought that northern filament was going to lift off so I spent 4 1/2 hours on an animation, with a 43 minute cloud interruption in the middle, so I turned it into two separate animations.  Oh, it did lift off, 2 hours after I had to shut down due to just too many fluffy clouds to continue.  I still had a great time capturing these after getting back from a great week with my brothers getting the cottage ready for the summer.

Really cool to see, sorry you didn't get to see the lift off.  4 1/2 hrs is a good chunk of data.  I just got a new 2TB external ssd, so hopefully can get beyond 1.5hrs.

That is a great full disc Warren!

And enough proms to keep everyone at school in Ohio engaged for a dance.

Your animations suggest to me our imaged proms are sometimes not sharp because of their flowing movement.

Sorry you missed the lift off of the biggest Prom, but you may well catch the next.

Thanks Jeff!  My laptop has a 2TB hard drive and electing to capture ROI's instead of wider fields helps keep the amount of data manageable, but there is always the chance of missing an event that happens out of the FOV.  I check GONG periodically throughout the capture time just to be sure it makes sense to abandon a capture and move to another event.

Thanks Foc!  Since my captures only cover about 10 seconds at most I think the lack in sharpness at times in frames is due to variations in seeing.  You are right though that sometimes captures can be long enough for movement to occur and add a bit of blur at times.

Thanks Roberto!  Delicate is a great description of that filament.

Warren, Big Bear shows the filament lifting off from roughly 1900 to 2200 – you missed it by just a few hours!

Yep, I saw that on GONG later!
