Hickson Compact Group 5 consists of four galaxies located approximately 549 million light-years away in Pisces:
MCG+01-02-042 (HCG 5c, PGC 2325/2322 and others) – the galaxy at the top of the chain
NGC 190 (HCG 5a, UGC 397, PGC 2324 and others) – the spiral below HCG 5c
SDSS J003854.72+070324.1 (HCG 5b, NGC 190S and others) – the galaxy below NGC 190
PGC 2326 (HCG 5d) – the galaxy at the bottom of the chain
These are the brightest of 42 members of the Abell Galaxy Cluster 76.
Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2
360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours
Imaged December 24th, 26th, 28th, 30th and 31st, 2024 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
