Is there ANYWHERE in the continental U.S. that it isn't constantly cloudy/raining?

Because apparently I'm going to have to start living vicariously through you if there is. I'm starting to wonder if here in Texas we're even going to get our bone dry, 110 degrees at midnight weather through the summer that is typical. Since the weekend weather has been shot (except for the weekends I can't get out to observe of course) I've tried week night observing on the infrequent nights that it's clear. But with the moon rising late now and only a handful of anything that can observed from my Bortle 9 skies it hasn't exactly been much fun. Even doing any solar observing has been a lot more miss than hit.

Just felt the need to vent. So, if you've been having clear skies consider yourself lucky. A lot of us haven't been.

Tonight's forecast for here is for mostly clear skies and winds @ 5mph. Like last night was. But yes, it has often been wet lately.

Only if you can find a place that doesn't have any telescopes located within 100 miles of it... lol.gif

Sunny, dry, clear and hot (for us) here in NorCal. Perfect for astronomy but bad for wild fires borg.gif

In the high desert, California, where I live, it's usually sunny.  However, it has its drawbacks.

It's constantly windy so your scope is prone to vibrations (and dust) and the seeing can be bad due to the wind.

Two nights ago, it was clear and the forecast said it would be clear. Ten minutes into trying to capture the Antennae, the scope failed. Yes, it was raining. Oh well, last night was a little better. I managed two hours before clouds started building to the north. Tonight's forecast is for rain. I grab what time I can.

Some scopes are better than others in the wind. I consider winds of 10 mph and under as calm. 20 mph and under doable. When the guys are 25 mph-30 mph, I'll call it a night.

I took this photo a couple of hours ago.. I'm not expecting rain.

Yes, we have had a lot of rain, clouds, and wind lately. Indeed, I cannot remember Jackson Hole being so green. But astronomy has been a bummer. And soon we will be getting CA’s wildfire smoke. I’m painting and fishing the few places not suffering from runoff. The question at the back of my mind is whether this is a one-off or the future. I’m beginning to think that the future of visual astronomy in in the southwest.

Dark, clear, calm skies (I hope).

I live 50 miles east of Dallas, had my Dob out last night. Had a pretty good evening, wasn't hot or humid, seeing was acceptable. Was pretty dark, did some galaxy hunting, finished the night on the Needle.

But I know how you feel, it has been rough the last month. Nothing but clouds, rain and brutal humidity.

Would be clear here in SE Texas but for the agriculture fires burning away in Mexico. The smoky haze has been constant for the last few weeks.

We actually need rain, which we may get next week.

The Northeast U.S. currently just stinks for astronomy. I've been out one day only this month and prospects for any more days this month is next to nil.

The first two star parties for the local club have been cancelled. Maybe there will be one in June.

Well, here in northern Utah it has been hit or miss, but this was last night at one of my favorite observing spots. Elevation 6920 feet and SQM readings were 21.71 to start and then settled in at 21.79 to 21.81 after darkness settled in completely. Had a blast in Corvis, Virgo and Coma Berenices.  Late night but a great one!!! It felt so good after having not being able to go to a dark site for two months because of the broken elbow. Everything was fantastic!! The forecast goes south until either Sunday or Monday. If it looks good again, I'll be heading out.

Well the weather was supposed to be beautiful last night according a friend. I thought about trying to get out for a little bit but work's been a beating this week and I just couldn't work up the energy. Weather for this weekend is supposed to be pretty good, but I have other obligations so... yeah.

It's been 12 days since the last sunny day (an average cloud cover of 30% or less from sunrise to sunset) in my area.

So far this month, rainfall is 3.91 inches above normal and the rainfall deficit for the year is now only 1.44 inches.

Yuma!!! 300+ sunny days a year. Guinness says it’s the sunniest place in the world! It is rather hot 9n the summer however.

Dark, clear, calm skies.

Sucks to be you I guess.

We did have a few days of rain awhile back but the garden needed it but on the whole it’s been rather nice here. Then again I’m not in the US of A so… yeah.

New Mexico, as long as the AZ folks keep their fire smoke out of our skies.
