I agree, I think it is smaller than an MI-250.

Definitely can hold a 9" refractor.... https://www.cloudyni...-aveman/page-12

And then with the finished pier  https://www.cloudyni...-aveman/page-17

But, once a Byers Series II was acquired, the 812 was off to the garage :)  https://www.cloudyni...-aveman/page-20

Heads up,I'll be closing this month's thread down several hours sooner than normal, probably by mid afternoon. We are heading on the road for two days . I will start the July reboot before we leave.Of course you're welcome to keep posting, but if you have a picture or link to share that you hope will encourage comments, you might want to wait until after the July thread appears(mid afternoon,EST).

Page numbers differ when users have different settings and a search in that topic for "Byers" or "812" has no results.

The last line in your post is evidence that it was NOT big enough...

Manual searching (reading) found "byers" and "812". Search topic function is broken.

Did you try the advanced search and select "archive"?

Also, that 9" AP is one large OTA.

Byers himself said that he should have made this with a full gear.  I think he was trying to keep costs and bulk down for buyers who'd be taking it to a remote site.  Still, that's an amazing find.  For visual, or even planetary imaging, resetting the sector wouldn't be a big deal.

Honestly for modern imaging it's not a problem either, other than re-aquiring the object once every 2 hours.

Well, I didn't need the last 4 scopes I got locally . . .

The 6344 I got a week ago, I did advertised it in an email to club members, but no one wanted it.  I took it to our star party this last Saturday, and showed it everyone.  They just don't know about these old classics.  So I'll try again with another email to everyone again.

I would go get the 10te but it would cost me 100 in gas. The C-6 I just got was 4 miles from my house. I have 6 telescopes I need to stop.
