Before I got the 1100 EdgeHD (Big Bertha) my main lunar scope was my 1984-1985 Celestron Super C8, a rare white tube variant (to my knowledge there was only a batch of 100 that were made). I used to call it Moonkiller, or Little Martha. It has excellent optics and holds collimation essentially indefinitely. Since getting the 1100, my use of the C8 fell off, to the point where I hadn't touched it in a couple of years. That was a shame; it's a fine instrument. It also has a lot of sentimental value, since it was gifted to me by a dear friend, my neighbor Wayne back in Raleigh. I've decided to start bringing Little Martha out again when the circumstances do not warrant hauling out Big Bertha, such as when the elevation is low, the seeing poor, or for events where I do not want to shoot a mosaic, such as lunar eclipses or aircraft transits. Last night the seeing was poor and the Moon already quite far down before I got home and had a chance to set up, so I pulled out Martha, reduced to f6.3, and used the IMX571 camera.
