Looks like it’ll be visible today; always a fun target.

Please share pics if you go hunting for it.

From the Alpine Valley to the Straight Wall, iPhone to my Questar 3.5. Taken a few years ago; I’ll try to replicate/improve this image tonight.

 Hi Ron,

Here's my latest rupes recta from last month with my 62mm apo and 4.5Morpheus S21 Smartphone

Mild sharp.jpg

I'm not a fan of this camera as sharpening is required and this image has significant sharpening and edge definition done to it.

I doubt the skies for tonite will allow for observing.

Nonetheless, nice shot.

I do lots of editing… if the more advanced photogs can ‘merge and stack the best 50% of 15,000 frames,’ I see no harm nor foul in playing with my iPhone’s internal editing functions to bring out the features in a single untracked iPhone shot.

🙃

Yes i did that to my best A20 images i ported over and found another level of detail, so good i've Really got to do an astrobin acct. Only about a dozen though.

Just a modicum as they say will do ya and out of a 100 i think 8 or 9 is plenty. There i was at 20.
I smashed the A20 window and discovered they used it to focus the normal telephoto..no effect on the .5X though so despite more pixels i think S21 not quite so good but for DSO maybe another tune.

And lol thanks for the compliment as using a holder is so much better results and despite a slight tilt inducing a chromatic halo at the south pole pretty okay but the unprocessed one is a mess.

Sometimes that N. S. border colour is AD or lateral colour and both. One drawback of a critically focused sharp tube that limb edge refracts light more visibly and an ADC is on my radar.

Cheers !!

Here’s a low res view of the Straight Wall taken last night by close-coupling my iPhone to the 16mm eyepiece of my Questar Seven at 150x magnification. Some internal editing, and I’m quite happy with the high res 3.3meg image, despite hazy skies.
