The Godin plateau is an elevated region located on the surface of the Moon, precisely to the west of the eponymous crater called Godin. This plateau stands out for its relatively flat and slightly undulating topography, typical of lunar plateau areas, which contrasts with the deep depressions of the surrounding craters.

It is situated in an area rich in interesting geological formations, characterized by ancient basaltic terrains, often dotted with small secondary craters and less pronounced reliefs compared to the more prominent lunar mountains. Its position west of the Godin crater suggests that the plateau may have been influenced by the impacts that formed the crater itself and by subsequent lava flows that leveled the surface.
From a scientific perspective, the Godin plateau represents an area of interest for studying the lunar stratigraphy—that is, the succession of geological layers—and for better understanding the history of impacts and volcanism on the Moon.

Marco,

This is fantastic!  Viewed this feature last week and then to see your animation really brings it to life.

thanks, with these 3d models you can realize the whole conformation of the lunar surface. In addition, it enhances the photo and is a good tool to observe and analyze the lunar geological structures.
