The Sun was out this morning behind a haze of thin clouds, but the wind wasn't too bad. Here is the Ha image from the PST (compared to GONG from Cerro Tololo):

There was a nice set of proms in the Northwestern corner of the disk, including a floating prom that seemed to be like a tray catching the spray coming off of the large prom to its upper left. In the bottom center there is a second comparison between the PST and GONG results taken earlier in the morning, before the large prom began pouring out its spray.

I focused most of the time on getting some WL images of the spots, as the disk has gained some more detail recently:

In the center is the (nearly) full disk, taken with just one 2X Barlow attached to the DSLR. On the left and right are zoomed in images of the major groups using two 2X Barlows.

Given the relative success of the double Barlows, I went ahead and added a third Barlow to the assembly ...

Great Prom work at goegeus proms Gary!
As usual fine derail on the disc with new spot 4116 well shown in Ha.

I am amazed at the level of WL stacking you pull off. Even double barlow stacking for me seems to leave my white light 533mm images very prone to showing grid lines. But dear departing 4105 certainly deserved your enlarged attention.

It surprises me too. wink.gif  Often the seeing doesn't allow a triple Barlow assembly, but this morning the seeing was a bit better than before. Although in general with the third Barlow on there is some central brightness (probably due to some internal reflections) but I can minimize it with a judicious setting for ISO and shutter speed.

If you look at the triple Barlow image above you can see a portion of 4105 right at the disk edge!

Here is the setup in triple format:

The DSLR is attached on the left.

Very nice captures.  Aren’t you afraid that the leaning tower of Pizza (Pisa) will fall over when it is in the diagonal?

Actually I turn the wedge so the opening is pointing straight up. This way the weight is just down with no side torque waytogo.gif laugh.gif
