The latest Questar Standard serial#0-CV-7754-BB listed on CN looks to be a scam. This same scope was supposedly sold on Ebay for $4200.

I tried having the ad-taken down, but no one here seems to care!

I've banned the user and marked the Ad a "Scam".

Looks like a typical account hijacking.

So from initial contact to resolution was one hour and 21 minutes. This despite no such notice being put in the Feedback forum, or none of the Admins being contacted directly. I’m sorry if people don’t think this was fast enough, but it might be worth mentioning that we are all volunteers here with real lives to lead, near 100 new members to vet each day, several dozen forums to moderate, and a hundred or more ads to review (individually).

Thanks to Don and Mike for a speedy resolution.

Cloudy Nights mods are far and away the least thanked, most overworked and best qualified of any forum I've been a part of. Thankless doesn't say it strongly enough. So thank you all, for helping to keep us safe and sorted!

Thanks for prompt attention.  I had contacted seller and questioned scope history and here is response:

"Hey,
same model, same condition. Mine’s real, clean, and ready to ship.
I’m not a dealer or scammer, just looking for a smooth sale.
Can send real pics if needed.

Cheers,

Lawrence"

This could be a lesson in what to do when you suspect a fraudulent ad.

At the bottom of each classified ad is Notify Administrator Button. That should be the first thing you do.

Most of the hijacked Ebay accounts tend to be accounts that have been dormant for a period of time.  Account owner might not get notified of activity.

This scammer was back again this morning. I notified the mods and they took the ad down right away.

Yep. The Questar community certainly is a useful tool for ferreting out questionable ads.
