Just picked up a used Celestron SCT 925 with mount/tripod.  I was told they originally purchased the package of the SCT, AGT Mount and tripod.  Later they purchased the AVX mount.  I just want to verify that the tripod that came with the AGT works "correctly" with the AVX.  They seemed to have gotten it to work, but that that I've taken it apart and started to put it back together...I wanted to be sure.

It was a good deal, so if I had to look at getting a different tripod I will, but if its just my inexperience, I can cope.

The ASGT (more commonly referred to as a CG-5) is the direct predecessor to the AVX.  They have similar weights and capacities.  The tripods should be interchangeable between them.

You will be fine.

The only difference between the tripods is the location  and size of the alignment pin. The AVX is on the top...
