I'm setting up my refractor for astrophotography and plan on using a dew heater. The scope is a 122mm f7 and the dew heater is a 12vdc type that has velcro closure and temp control. Precisely where should it be placed on the scope for best results?

Proper placement of dew heater ?

Around the objective end of the telescope or as close to it as you can get if there's a dew shield.

I extend my dew shield and then place the heater around where the final lens is located. So typically at the joint between where the dew shield pulls out and the main tube. I personally place it there, immediately before where the dew shield starts. My reasoning is keep the last piece of glass warm while not warming the dew shield itself.
