These remarkable new images of the solar corona were made possible by a pair of orbiting spacecraft, flying in precision formation 150 meters apart.  The sunward one has a 1.4 meter diameter circular occulting disk.  The relative positions of the two independent spacecraft are controlled to about 1 mm!
