We had severe thunderstorms yesterday and last night, and some storms rolled through earlier today. In the morning there was a brief respite, and I tried to take some images through the humid haze. Seeing and transparency were both poor (see the Quality Graph), and getting a focus in WL was not possible. Here was the best I could get.

First, Ha with the PST:

and a comparison for the Eastern hemisphere:

As mentioned, getting a decent focus in WL was extremely difficult, so instead of taking videos I just took a single snapshot and digitally enlarged some sections:

Total time outside filming: less than 15 minutes! It was as hot as Hades out there. And humid.

Hopefully the weather will calm down and clear in the next day or two fingerscrossed.gif fingerscrossed.gif . Although the heat wave will last even longer.flame.gif

Thanks Warren!

I didn't expect the disk to come out as well as it did, given the horrible conditions.

Good job, Gary! I’m impressed by both the PST image and the WL snapshot.

Well the "best you could do" under bad conditions Gary was still much better than GONG. You still fully and very efficiently covered Ha and WhiteLight with minimal need for frames in the final images, just that on this day my own enlarged multi-barlow Sunspots are more nearly competitive!

Indeed, it was surprising what a single snapshot could do ... the thunderstorms are back!
