Bought it from a fellow CNer. Put it on my AVX for a picture but will probably spend more time on my Evolution mount. Waiting for a tripod for that.

At 75 I'm downsizing quite a bit. I have had many scopes since 1981 up to a 20" dob that I built. My Backyard semi-permanent scope is a Nexstar C-11 OTA on a CGX mount.

The 9.25" will be my Star Party travel scope.

Nice. I got one about a month ago (also from a fellow CN’er) and love it. It lives on my AM5 mount

The only Celestron SCT I don't currently have is the 14" I don't think that one will ever happen. The 11" is as big as I can handle.

I just downsized to a C11. My 8" Cass weighs almost what a C14 does, and my 10" Newt tube weighs more.

C11 much easier to handle.  :)

I deforked my C11 OTA from my old Nexstar 11 GPS. Actually put it on my AVX mount and it seemed to handle it well. But it really belongs on the CGX. I’m quite fond of my AVX and don’t want to harm it. The 9.25” seems quite comfortable there.

Hello, Oh NO, it is a terrible  excuse, I can say that from experience at 77!

Wishing you the best with your new acquisition, a SCT is a great choice again speaking from experience with a 10" and a 5" SCTs.

Enjoy,

You should have enough clearance to slide a dew heater under the dovetail and about 10 layers of reflectix. lol.gif

Don’t need it. We don’t get much dew here in the high desert.

And...when you say, "UPS dropped" with them, it could be literal!  Nice scope!

Nice scope. One day I'll be downsizing to a 9.25 after my 12" SCT either breaks or I can no longer move it. But that's the plan.

I think it will be quite a while before I go larger than my 9.25. It’s quite scary when I see it leaning all the way over on my AM5 plus carbon fiber tripod. I decided to put a counterweight on, not because i was close to the weight l decided to put a counterweight on the mount, not because I was near the weight limit, but because I was so afraid of it being unbalanced and tipping over because of a gust of wind or an inadvertent touch!  I also put a 25lb weight in the hammock to keep the whole thing more stable. So far it works like a charm.

Maybe they would do so when I'd ordered a C9. But they do never as a surprising present, C8 neither :-)
