I recently acquired an OTI Q6 without the fork (unforked?) I need recommendations for a mount and go-to system. Harmonic equatorial? ZWO? Other? The OTA os 16.5 lbs. Thank yous most kindly in advance. DLT

Why does the photo show the mounting posts for the fork arm are on the wrong end of the tube? Did someone take apart the tube assembly and put the optics on the wrong end of the tube?

I've never taken a Quantum 6 apart. Maybe the tube has the same shoulder depth and threads on both ends?

I had considered purchasing that scope and had a couple of exchanges with the seller but there were just too many unknowns. Also, I didn't want to get involved with any repairs or repainting since that's not my thing.
Perhaps you could just remove the mounting plate and find some tube rings for it?

The saddle for the fork mount had been moved to the front of the tube for some odd reason. The original thread holes where it is supposed to go are still there half way down the OTA (can be seen in the photos). You should be able to move the saddle back where its supposed to go. It uses 6-32 or 8-32 flat head screws.
While the saddle is off you may want to tap holes in it to mount a dovetail for what ever mount you are going to put it on..
EDIT: Looking at it you have two roots if you want to put it on a GEM. You can remove the saddle and find scope rings mentioned above or you can use the saddle/dovetail and mount a diagonal at the coaxial hole at the rear so the eyepiece doesn't end up in an odd position.

Yeah, that wouldn't be possible, the corrector cell is a fixed part inside the barrel at one end and the thread is inside that cell. Its a smaller ID than the plain threaded barrel at the other end..Had me do a double take for a second though, "is that what they did?"
