Why did my image come out like this? I have 2 hours of data (60-second subs), and I know there are a lot of dust spots, but even then, I think I should get some data. This is of the North American nebula.

I used a Sony 150 - 600mm telephoto lens (I shot it at 250mm)

A Sony a7riii for the camera

The equal55i pro mount

I used guiding as well

Also, the asiair.

Can someone just tell me why I can't get out like this? All I did to process was a background extraction and an auto-stretch to see the data. But nothing else, please. I need help!

You didn't take flats and have a lot of vignetting.

If the data is in there, an even background (background extraction) can help bring it out.  But, a background extraction can't work with all the vignetting and the signal is getting buried in the background.

Yes I do understand that but even other times when I have used flats my images just have not been good. I have never really had a good nebula photo even with flats and other things. Is it possible that I am not taking my images correctly I have been using 800 iso

First off, you need to all the calibration files to get the most out of your data.  Post a shot with all the calibration files.

Secondly, is your camera modified?  If not, Ha will be very weak and you'll need a LOT of time to capture it typically.  NA nebula isn't very bright.

If you want a test if what you can do pick a brighter nebula like the Lagoon.

You realize the sky rotates, right?  smile.gif

What at one time is on the one side of your house, will be on the other side of your house later or vice versa.

I have no idea what your first sentence says.  Ha.

There are a few, but I would just focus a few nights on the Lagoon and see how you do first.  Try to get your first nebula down before you waste other time on other nebulas.
