I'm motorizing my 16x18 rolloff. Total roof travel is 22' from closed to fully open. What's a good speed range? 6"/sec? Faster/slower?

I like 6"/sec and use it on my observatories.     Tom

Afterthought > It also depends on whether your drive incorporates auto-ramped acceleration and/or a clutch to prevent it from "hammering" on start-up or stop. Without that impulse prevention provision... slower is a lot more gentle on the hardware.    Tom

with regard to drive, I use a Minarik 90v chopper drive.  You can set the accel/decel, but you need to wire a bridge to reverse it...then you also need a latch for the bridge so you don't immediately reverse the bridge...you got to keep the bridge polarity while the motor winds down.

I think 6"/sec is reasonable.  Are you going to drive it entirely from one side?
