Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have this telescope that I recently bought and the tube is not very big. It is a Meade telescope with Autostar computer control. The telescope is a Telestar. I see that the eyepiece holder comes with a Barlow lens. I think that's what it is. This telescope is Newtonian, but when I want to magnify with the SVbony lens, I can't magnify like with another telescope. Also, when I want to adjust it, I see that the Barlow lens is glued. Could someone from the forum help me to know if the Barlow lens can be removed because I have seen that in some Celestron brand telescopes, this lens can be removed to adjust it. Also, with another telescope that I have, this SvBony Zoom lens can magnify very well without the need for accessories. With this one, the image gets blurry when I want to magnify a simple image like the moon. I appreciate your help.

It's not a Newtonian, it's a Bird-Jones.

That lens in the focuser is a corrector for the issues with the main mirror. If you remove it, the 'scope will be unusable.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer for your magnification issues.

As already pointed out, that scope is not a "Newtonian".  The Primary mirror is spherical so it needs the lens to correct the image field. However it isn't a "true" Bird-Jones.  The optics suck and will not hold power, which is why you cannot zoom it.  All of the Bird-Jones cheapo knockoff scopes suck no matter what the brand it is.

A Newtonian will be a physically longer scope with a Parabolic primary mirror, and no "lens" in the focuser drawtube.

My advice is to sell, or give it away. Then buy something better to enjoy the Heavens Above. Keep the SVBONY zoom though, they're quite nice for the price.

BTW, I have the Celestron version and it completely sucks. It's getting tossed because I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.
